Leah Klopfenstein – current Scholarship Recipient 2014-2018 IU South Bend

Leah Klopfenstein anticipates spending time at the St. Joseph County jail–and she is looking forward to the experience!  Really? Yes! A recipient of a scholarship from the Scholarship Foundation of St. Joseph County, Leah will graduate from IUSB in 2018 with a major in Criminal Justice and a minor in Mass Communications. Wanting to expand her experiences, she will serve a summer internship at the jail, working one week in each department.

When Leah entered IUSB, she planned to major in Criminal Justice, graduate, then become an Indiana patrol officer. She has expanded on that plan and now anticipates in the near future earning her Master’s degree in criminal justice, with the goal of returning to South Bend and teaching in the Criminal Justice department at IUSB.
As a recipient of a scholarship from the Scholarship Foundation of St. Joseph County, she also enjoyed helping with the Scholarship Foundation’s fund-raising dinners.
Enthusiastic about her future and appreciating the Scholarship Foundation’s role in her education, Leah said, “The Scholarship Foundation is a great way to get involved with individuals in the local area, help in ways you could not before, and receive some help to pay for your college education. It is a priceless experience with great benefits. Thanks!”
